War Dog Memorial

Through of the efforts of Dr. William W. Putney, a WWII veteran and member of a War Dog platoon, the first War Dog Memorial, a life-size bronze of a Doberman pinscher, was unveiled on  the U. S. Naval Base on Guam during the 50th anniversary of the liberation of that island.

Always Faithful Memorial

The Always Faithful memorial is the World War II War Dog Memorial located in Guam dedicated July 21, 1994.

25 Marine War Dogs Gave Their Lives Liberating Guam in 1944.  They served as sentries, messengers, and scouts.  They also explored caves, detected mines, booby traps, and enemy presence.
